Self-Examination

-Self-examination can be as simple as standing in a pair of shorts and looking at the position of your feet and knees. Look at the angle your thigh bones (femur) make to the lower leg and again, to the feet. This angle is more noticeable in women than in men and is called the "Q" angle and is accentuated by a flat foot type.

-If the foot is moved to a position where the heel bone is parallel to the lower leg (rearfoot neutral) and then allowed to relax (rearfoot relaxed position), you can readily see the difference between the foot in a supported position and then in a hyperpronated position.
